HWTA Dropshots goes green!

Board votes to publish newsletter online exclusively.

The HWTA newsletter will be published online beginning with the next issue. Two main reasons were cited for the move to digital only. First was the increase in postage which began in January. HWTA should save close to $500.00 per year on postage and publication costs. Second members can’t open the large files. With an online publication, the newsletter is always available.

Another plus is that past issues will be archived and just a click away. Forms that are sometimes needed for business reasons will be readily available

2/12 President’s Message

As I begin my second year as President of HWTA, I would like to thank the members of the 2011 Board for all of their help and support. You made the decision to stay on as President for
another year an easy decision!! I also want to welcome the new Board members for 2012!!

There are many exciting things happening this year! In addition celebrating HWTA’s 45th year, we are looking forward to our new pavilion being completed soon. So many of you have helped to make the pavilion a reality, and I can’t wait to see it completed. We will of course have a dedication/celebration!

Our first event of the year is the Membership Social. It is always a fun event, and I hope to see all of you at Penny Sumners’s lovely home on Valentine’s Day. Invite a tennis friend, or bring a former member, and enjoy a fun afternoon.

See you on the courts !

2012 Membership

This is your first reminder that it is time to renew your HWTA membership for 2012.  We feel sure that you will want to join HWTA again this year.  There are so many planned HWTA activities, i.e., the Membership Social, the spring and fall tournaments, Wednesday League and Tuesday round robin, the Summer Social and the Holiday Luncheon.  HWTA also offers newsletters and e-mails to keep members up-to-date on tennis happenings and member news.  In addition, the annual HWTA handbook lists members’ names and contact information as well as pictures in the back of the book so that you can match names with faces!  It is invaluable when setting up tennis matches.

Please take a few minutes to send in your membership renewal.
If your information has not changed, just write “no change” across the form and your information will then remain the same as in the 2011 book.
Thanks –

-Karen

HWTA Clothing Sale

Remember that this Saturday, November 12 is the deadline to drop off your (slightly) used tennis clothing in the baskets at HTC.  If possible, clothing should be on hangers and the skirt and top in an outfit should be pinned together so that they don’t get separated.

Then stop by HTC next week to fill those holes in your closet!  Kathy will be there from 8:00 until noon Monday through Friday, November 14 – 18 and from 8:00 on next Saturday, November 19.

Wednesday League

Dawn Chenault and Gail Ruggerio have agreed to coordinate a round robin on Wednesdays. We will begin this Wednesday, November 9th at 9:00am. You will need to be at the tennis center by 8:45 in order to be assigned a court. Play will begin at 9:00am. You do not need to get a substitute, just show up and play tennis! If you have any questions, please e-mail me. There is also a round robin on Tuesdays at 9:00am. Sally Warden coordinates this one.
