Upcoming 2008 Fall Tournament
Ladies it is time to play some tennis and have fun for a wonderful cause! The 7th Annual Roselyn Donnelly Memorial Tennis Tournament will be September 25th – 28th. Even more special is that it is HWTA’s 10th Annual Charity tournament. We have chosen to benefit the “Huntsville Achievement School”, serving a wide array of students and specializing in educational training for children diagnosed with various learning differences. As mothers and parents we recognize the importance for every child, no matter how great their learning disability, to be allowed to grow positively and reach academic success that can not be offered in a normal education environment. The fall tournament will have both regular and senior ladies and mixed doubles this year. I know there are plenty of men that will be ready to play. The men always enjoy our tournaments and the fellowship we offer, especially the food. All that is needed is for us to ask. At present we have the following sponsors: Costco, Captain D’s Seafood, Steve Deerman, Phyllis Baron (Baron Services) and The Lioce Group. We want to make this 10th Charity anniversary special so we are asking our HWTA members to recruit donations that go directly to the charity. We also have two fund raisers to help, a raffle for a Huntsville Tennis Center (HTC) annual membership and selling “I Love Tennis” car magnets.
Due to the events around town this same weekend and to get more participation, we decided this year to provide lunch on Saturday rather than the evening player’s party. As usual, we need your help with food and door prizes. If you could help us out, please call Arlene at 536-3108. We are offering the Ladies Tank and the Men’s T-shirt for the fall. Entries received after September 17th will receive a T-shirt. So get your entry forms in early!
One last thing, don’t miss the September 3rd HWTA Board meeting. The Huntsville Achievement School will be presenting, so come and learn more about how they are providing our community with a valuable academic resource. You can also visit their website at www.hsvachievement.com. I look forward to seeing you all at the tournament!
