Huntsville Tennis Center Pavilion
HTC pavilion becomes a reality

Last August, HWTA embarked on a project to raise $20,000 to build a picnic pavilion at HTC. Through various fund-raising efforts, this goal was realized in December!
You made this possible. HWTA donated $8000 as seed money. You purchased team photos from Bob Topp that brought in another $350 or so. You supported the Celebrity Waiters night at Logan’s that brought in over $8000. You donated tennis clothes and bought tennis clothes from Kathy Brandon and that brought in almost $950.
Spring Break Tennis For Kids
HWTA is hosting the Spring Break Tennis for Kids again this year and I, Irene Wisner, have volunteered to be the chairman. As most of you know, Spring Break Tennis provides a free tennis experience to Huntsville kids and gives us a chance to pass on our love of the game to the next generation. But, with about 150 kids and 16 courts, this involves a lot of volunteers and a lot of organization. Please consider volunteering and/or volunteering to be on the organizational committee. There will be a training session in mid March on Quickstart tennis for those volunteering with the 10 & younger players. Please note there will not be any league play, round robins, so please volunteer 2 hours to 8 hours to the game.
To volunteer: Send name, email, t-shirt size, mornings available, preferred age group/duties (i.e.1st & 2nd grade, registration, organizational committee, Snacks .) to irenehwisner@gmail.com
Southern Senior Cup Tournament
Chris Jackson and many helpers orchestrated the important and prestigious Super Senior Tournament last year, in which many HWTA members participated. She’ll work her organizational magic for the upcoming event as well.
Jackson is a long-time chairperson in Huntsville in many areas from the library to the arts, particularly the community chorus. She’s involved in her church as well.
This year she’ll be working with co-chair Deborah Long. Long moved to Huntsville a little over a year ago and has been active in league, tournament, and fun play ever since. She’s ready to work with her good friend Jackson to put on a well done event.
Chris says please watch for the email asking for your much needed help.
